The Community Grants Program is an open, competitive program through which grants are made to nonprofit organizations residing in and serving the citizens of Chemung and Southeastern Steuben counties. Grants are made in the fall and range from $2,000 to $20,000. The average grant is $7,500. A panel of community members review and recommend grant awards to the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors. If your organization has never received a grant from the Community Foundation we strongly recommend speaking with the Director, Grants & Communications prior to submitting an application.
Organizations may submit one application for funding per grant cycle.
View the Guidelines for Grantseekers for more information.
When should I apply?
The Foundation accepts applications once per year. All applicants must submit a letter explaining the program to be funded and the amount requested – a letter of intent – two weeks before the application deadline. The letter of intent is found within our online grant application system.
