Grants

The Fund for Women is a field of interest fund at the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, Inc. The general grantmaking focus is to help girls and women achieve economic self-sufficiency and realize life goals through funds and programs in the areas of health, wellness, career, and life skills.

The targeted focus for the 2010 grantmaking year of the Fund for Women will be for programs/projects that support the education of girls and women. Grants will be made annually on a competitive basis

The geographic area for the Fund for Women is defined as the greater Southern Tier region. The fund makes grant awards within the same catchment area as the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, Inc., Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates counties in the Southern Tier of New York state.

Fund for Women Grantmaking

Fund for Women supports women and girls from the Southern Tier region.  Grants are made annually to both nonprofit organizations and individuals.  Proposals will be accepted for programs/projects that support the education of women and girls. Individual grant awards do not exceed $500.

Grants for Nonprofits

In 2010, the Fund for Women will only be making grant awards for programs/projects that focus on the education of women and girls. Due to a finite number of grant dollars available, the fund will not be accepting unsolicited proposals from nonprofits. All programs that receive grant awards will be subject to a grant evaluation within one year of the grant date.

Grants for Individuals

In 2010, the Fund for Women will only be making grant awards to individuals for expenses related to education. The deadline for submission is March 31, 2010. Application and Guidelines
